PROBLEM
Staying within the limit of one typeface and alternative color, I needed to conduct an interview with an artist I knew personally, to create an editorial guided by image for SPEAK Magazine's Speak series.
SOLUTION
I chose to interview Ricky Suarez, an independent Hip Hop / Rap artist based in Gilroy, California. After the interview, I felt what I needed to convey most in the design was emotion. I let image and lines guide the composition, providing visual spaces for the headlines and copy, to create a dynamic and unusual layout. The result were 12x6 inch rectangular printed spreads with accordian folds.
